Every role on the Design Better Careers job board is available as free, public JSON. You don't need a key. Use it in your own job board, newsletter, community or agent.

When you show our roles, please credit Design Better Careers with a link back to us. Each role carries url, its page on designbetter.careers, for exactly that. A line such as “Jobs from Design Better Careers” linking to https://designbetter.careers works well.

Endpoints

GET https://designbetter.careers/api/v1/jobs/{id}

The first lists active roles with filters, counts and paging. The second returns one role with its full description, or a 404 once the role has closed. Both allow requests from any origin, so they work from a browser.

Filters

Pass filters as query parameters. Where a filter takes several values, separate them with commas or repeat the parameter. URL-encode spaces and slashes. An unknown parameter or value returns a 400 that lists what's allowed, so a typo never quietly matches the whole board.

q: Text search over title, company and description.
role: Discipline. One or more of UX/UI Design, Product Design, Branding, Design Systems, DesignOps, User Research, Service Design, Motion Design, Illustration, Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, Project/Program Management, Other.
level: Experience. One or more of Early Career (0-2 years), Mid Career (3-8 years), Late Career (9+ years).
type: Employment type. One or more of Full-time, Part-time, Contract, Advising, Internship.
sector: The employer's sector or industry. Mission sectors: public-health, healthcare, government, civic-tech, nonprofit, education, climate, culture. Industries: ai, developer-tools, b2b-software, fintech, ecommerce, consumer-apps, media, gaming, travel, mobility, security, hardware, biotech, real-estate, agency. A role matches if its employer carries any of them.
mission: true returns roles at mission-driven employers: any of public-health, healthcare, government, civic-tech, nonprofit, education, climate. false excludes them.
company: Exact employer names, comma separated.
location: Matches part of the location, such as london.
remote: true for remote roles only.
leadership: true for design leadership roles: head of, director, VP and design manager.
salary: true for roles that list pay.
since: Posted within a window, such as 7d or 24h, or after an ISO date.
sort: newest (the default), oldest, or balanced, which spreads roles across employers.
limit, offset: Paging. limit is at most 200. Follow nextOffset until it's null.
include: description adds each role's full description.

What you get back

A list response carries total, count, nextOffset, the filters it applied, facets with counts over the filtered set, and jobs. Each job looks like this:

url: our page for the role, for credit
applyUrl: the employer's own posting, with tracking tags that tell the employer where the applicant came from. Please keep them.
sectors: the employer's sector tags. Most commercial employers have none.
source, sourceName and sourceUrl: set when a partner board found the role. Credit it by name and link to sourceUrl.
compensation: the employer's own figure, or null when the posting lists none
featured: paid placement. Featured roles come first under every sort.

How the data behaves

We add roles once a day, from employers' own career sites and a few curated boards.
We close roles when the employer does. A role that disappears has closed.
Responses are cached for five minutes. Please cache them on your side too, and page with nextOffset rather than polling.
Sector tags describe the employer, not the role, and an employer can have several. Mission sectors come from partner boards and public signals such as a .gov domain. Industries come from an AI classification of the employer's name, website and description. We review both by hand.
